Sample cover letter for Internship position at Intel summer Internship

Software developer

Dear Dr. Plaha

I am very excited about the possibility of joining the Intel's software development summer internships as I learned in your email and I was instantly attracted to this valuable opportunity. As a 2nd year BSc Computer Science student, I would like to apply for a summer internship position with Intel.

My coursework as a first year computer science candidate has exposed me to an extensive set of programming experiences. I achieved 84% in my end-of-year project in Introduction to Programming. The project was a board game based on Java and I implemented an AI player to act as an opponent. During this summer, I consolidate and improved my knowledge on Java by developing several sample Java programs, for example an instant messaging program based on Java socket programming.

In addition to my academic coursework, during my internship in an investment company, I designed and built a program with the function to calculate a client’s investment ability by analyses the income and estates of the client. Although the program wasn’t highly technical, but it was widely used by investment manager at the outset stage of investment advisory in the latter days.

I am an analytical, creativity, and hard working person and always eager to learn. Although I was a freshman without any previous coding experience, but I am studying extra courses and doing exercises to keep improve my knowledge and programming ability.

I hope my technical skill would qualify me for the summer internship position at Intel. Enclosed is my resume and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Jack Harronson
