As a final year student at the University of Bristol, who is eager to work in investment management, I was immediately determined to apply for the graduate scheme at J P Morgan.

I have always been fascinated by investment management due to the complexity and thrive that comes with. Having undertaken work experience in the financial sector I am drawn towards investment management due to the fast-paced environment, and potential to work alongside intelligent and entrepreneurial people. Having ran my own business I understand how to analyse a business and build models of how a company operates, where it might improve in the future and how. I welcome taking down these challenges with a motivated and ambitious team in a highly pressured environment and deliver high quality results to the clients at the same time. Furthermore, I appreciate the goal-orientated nature of this sector, as well as the wide range of skills set required for the different phases of investment management.

I demonstrate a substantiated fascination with investment management by launching my own investment website istabraqinvestments.com in which I manage a portfolio. I regularly analyse companies and produce reports with buy, sell or hold recommendations. I also analyse macro and micro market information and suggest how this information is likely to impact the markets. These attributes set me in good stead for a career in investment management by identifying potential investment opportunities while taking into consideration the clients risk tolerance. Thereby developing client’s wealth by asset allocation, and portfolio diversification to ensure the position is always well hedged.

Not only has J P Morgan been setting the standard for the industry since its founding, the global network and presence in various industries also reflects an ambitious vision and ability to adapt to the constantly changing environment. Exactly these values attract me to J P Morgan. Especially at a time when banks are deleveraging and retrenching, effectively getting rid of non-core business and working to secure balance sheets. Of course, all this plays into the hands of the leading investment banks, as evidenced by J P Morgan annual results in 2014. J P Morgan recorded a 13% return on tangible common equity, also the bank delivered 10% total shareholder return in 2014 and continues to outperform the financial service industry TSR since 2008. All this has led to the asset management department to make a net income of $2.2 billion of which is 23% of ROE.Ultimately, I want to work for a bank that has a headline strategic goal of being a “leading provider of capital markets”.

My experience in business and aptitude for client services in complex matters is well suited to a career at J P Morgan. Having ran my own business I demonstrate sound judgement, project management and problem solving skills. Besides my private ventures, I am also president of the Bristol Turf Club and ensure the club is an enjoyable and sustainable enterprise by implementing practical, long-term fundraising and promotion strategies. In conjunction with the Jockey Club and Great British Racing. I was also the elected head boy at school, I am a natural leader and an effective communicator with a natural appetite for success.
