Sample cover letter for Full Time position at J.P. Morgan

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am currently entering my last year at Cambridge University reading Natural Sciences, after which I intend to continue my studies for 1 year taking a masters in management degree so as to increase my knowledge of the financial industry.

I have applied for a position on the Asset and Wealth management internship programme h in the hope to have a chance to work within the Sales division of the London branch. This division interests me because it involves fast paced work in a variety of different forms and I believe the diversity of this job would suit me as I am keen to learn about a number of different sectors. I am applying to J.P. Morgan specifically because of its superiority in the Sales and Trading division and the large variety of products sold. I always had a passion and aptitude for Science and Mathematics and I was determined to achieve my goal of studying at Cambridge University. I have always thought that my career path would be outside of a laboratory environment and have decided that I would like to pursue a career in banking after completing my degree by utilizing the skills and knowledge that I have gained at University.

I am applying for this position as a blank canvas, I do a 65 hour week at Cambridge working towards my degree and therefore do not have lots of extra time to research current financial matters. However I believe I have enough potential to be a worthwhile choice. I am a very dedicated and ambitious person, and If I were fortunate enough to be chosen for a position on your summer internship program I assure you I will work to make sure I am ready for everything that this placement entails.
