Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan

POSITION:

Winning Women Program

Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is (company), and I am currently a junior at (school). The past two summers, I interned with (company), a leading telecommunication and financial services firm. Through my work performing competitive analysis for its money transfer services launch, I had to understand different financial markets, particularly in Latin America and Africa, analyze risk, and whether those markets were conducive to company’s entry into money transfer. It is this experience that particularly drew me to the J.P. Morgan Winning Women program, as it is the perfect launch pad for me to gain insight into financial services through a leading firm known for its wide breadth of opportunities and an ever-growing learning curve. I am specifically drawn to the global markets division because through my education in school, I know that the need to raise capital, underwrite securities, or broker M&A deals all rest fundamentally on risk management. As such, I am interested in exploring my potential to learn more about global risk and investment banking through J.P. Morgan summer analyst program. I have enclosed my resume for your consideration.

Working at company directly under senior management, I have become comfortable with assuming greater initiative, looking at the firm at a macro-level perspective, understanding the fundamental interdependencies between financial services and telecommunications, and performing all inclusive analyses for the marketing and business teams. My previous internship experience in start-up environment as the strategy intern have enabled me to conduct extensive market and client research, prepare industry specific pitchbooks, and create financial models and product development strategies for the senior management. Furthermore, my leadership in student organizations such as Stern Political Economy Exchange and Social Impact Council has strengthened my communication skills, honed my ability to solve problems critically, improve organizational skills, and think creatively.

Given my previous internships, and leadership experiences, I have the skills, motivation, and passion necessary for a J.P. Morgan candidate. I am excited to learn more about J.P. Morgan and launch my potential career through the Winning Women leadership program.

I would welcome an opportunity to further discuss my qualifications with you and learn more about J.P. Morgan at your earliest convenience. I can be reached via email at email.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Sincerely,
