Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan

POSITION:

Summer Analyst

To whom may concern:

I am a junior at Harvard University, and writing to apply to the 2017 Asset Management Global Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program in Hong Kong. I have a strong desire to learn more about financial markets and macro-level economic trends. It is with enthusiasm that I ask to contribute my exceptional quantitative and qualitative skills to this exciting summer opportunity.

I am a good candidate not only because of my strong quantitative skills acquired from class, but also because of my highly inquisitive and team-oriented skills strengthened through extracurricular activities. Without prior dance experiences, I joined a dance group in freshman year. After rehearsing three different Chinese traditional dances with 40 dancers for almost a year, I was able to dance confidently on stage in front of over 1000 audience for the Chinese New Year Gala. Similarly to my dance learning experience, I believe I will be able to adjust quickly to work at JP Morgan. Also, dancing helped me notice that I am a people person, which led me to seek out personal growth in a collaborative setting at Harvard Student Agencies, a student-run company. My 15-hour weekly commitment there during the school year has helped me develop excellent interpersonal skills. Through client meetings, I was able to identify clients’ needs based on conversations and tailor the right product for them. I also managed to prioritize my time under pressure and perform well on concurrent projects especially under intense pressure during final exams week.

My interest in numbers and finance has been growing since last summer’s internship at ZTRD Investment Group. I did industry research and analyzed balance sheets on numerous late nights, which further sharpened my quantitative and analytical skills. I hope to continue developing my skills by interning at JP Morgan next summer.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

xxxx
