Sample cover letter for Internship position at Johnson and Johnson

POSITION:

ILDP

Dear Ms. Price:

I am writing to express my interest in the International Leadership Development Program with Johnson & Johnson. I strongly believe that Johnson & Johnson’s values and emphasis on strategic thinking, employee individuality and collaboration are well-aligned with what I am looking for in my future employee. My ambition strongly aligns with Johnson & Johnson’s Credo to improve the lives of its customer and maintain high ethical standards. My global experience, having worked in technology consulting and project management, coupled with my strong academic focus in Strategy and Operations from Vanderbilt University, would make me a valuable contributor to the J&J team this summer.

Early in my career as an analyst and then consultant in the technology industry, I not only developed sound analytical skills, but also the ability to interpret and convincingly represent data in a palatable form to clients. For example, I designed and implemented the Asset Liability Management system at a major institutional bank. This entailed extensive data analysis to integrate the entire balance sheet transaction data of the bank across multiple sources and develop an accurate risk management system.

Realizing my passion lies in working closely with clients, I spent the last 5 years working in a client facing role in Japan. I learnt the importance of effective communication to not only ask the right questions and gather the right information but also advise my clients in the right direction. I was quickly able to adapt and thrive in the challenging fast paced Japanese culture that expected exceptional quality and perfection while leveraging my interpersonal skills to build lasting relations with all my customers.

On being promoted to Project Leader, I had the opportunity to lead teams from Japan, India and on diverse projects, from building complex regulatory reporting systems to large scale migrations. This role allowed me to demonstrate my leadership abilities and helped me develop a global perspective needed to be an effective team player in a cross-cultural setting. I was able to consistently deliver and exceed client expectations to earn the highest performance rating . During this time, I also collaborated with sales and senior management on potential projects and had the opportunity to present to clients on a regular basis.

I am confident that my analytical skillset, leadership skills, diverse background, and my desire for continued learning would translate well to a career at Johnson & Johnson. I look forward to discussing my qualifications with you in more detail and would appreciate the opportunity to interview with your team.

Sincerely,

ABC
