Sample cover letter for Internship position at KPMG

POSITION:

Technology Consultant Intern

Dear KPMG Internship Recruiting Team

Your posting for a position in “Intern Advisory LA IT Audit & Assurance Summer 2017”

immediately commanded my attention. As a veteran technologist with an analytical mindset, I

appear to meet all of the stated requirements. This internship would be a perfect place to

continue my career.

As the attached resume details, my real-world experience and education provide me with a

solid ground in the technical aspects that this position required. I have been challenging

myself with data-driven problem solving using various statistical tools and engineering

practices. What made me stand out from the crowd is the ability to think out of the box, make

a long-term judgment, and meet bottom-line expectation. There were many times when I

utilized my creativity to reinvigorate a seemingly mundane operation. The one that I did

recently was proposing a centralized cloud data storage to collect and share documents

related to the grader's work. This revamped the traditional process from clumsy sending a

chain of emails to an efficient grading logistics. My past experience in successfully resolving

many non-functional technical issues also demonstrates my forte at analytical reasoning. For

instance, I had worked on improving the performance of Foreign Exchange Automated

Trading Agent. By incorporating Java-based profiling and memory analyzing tools, I managed

to track down bottlenecks in the system and reduced the overall latency by more than ten

times. Such problems do not normally show up, require deep logical deduction and

perseverance to solve. Additionally, many years of serving the financial industry have

inculcated me with a business mindset and led me to form a strong passion for bridging a gap

between business problems and IT solution.

KPMG's commitment to empowering businesses strongly reflects my professional direction.

As a nimble learner who always embraces a new idea and believes in the value of

collaboration, I am eager to work alongside colleagues who may have a different background,

contribute my technical and analytical skills to solve a challenging problem. This will

unquestionably be an invaluable experience.

Naturally, I would appreciate the opportunity to learn more and the intriguing chance to

participate with KPMG. Please feel free to contact me via my email or phone if there are any

questions. Thank you for your time and serious consideration.

Sincerely,

XXXX
