Sample cover letter for Internship position at Monsanto

POSITION:

Accounting

While attending business career fair, I was pleased to learn of your current opening for Accounting Intern at Monsanto. I am currently a junior accountancy student and I will be graduating with my bachelor’s degree in May 2016. As a passionate candidate, I am confident that my technical skills, international background, and my ability to work well on teams will make a positive contribution in your firm.

Last summer, I was a supply chain management intern for the Starch and Sweetener business unit of Cargill where my main project involved creating and implementing a customer database. Although my prior exposure to database design was limited, I was able to bring the database to life by both drawing on relevant knowledge acquired from courses and teaching myself new approaches in complex contexts. The successful implementation of the database helped the manager select the transportation routes ideal for various clients. In addition, this experience has also strengthened my understanding of agricultural business operations.

This past summer, I had an opportunity to work at PwC. As an intern, I have come in touch with most of the responsibilities of an audit associate. I was involved in the IPO audit engagement, where my responsibilities included preparation of lead schedules, implementation of confirmation proceduresfor various client accounts, and other miscellaneous duties assigned without notice. This experience has furthered my understanding of auditing procedures and practices. I was able to manage various tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines. My strong interpersonal and communication skills have allowed me to develop good working relationships with colleagues, clients and managers. In this role, I discovered my passion for auditing and my interests in working in team-oriented environments as well.

It will be a great experience to work with an organization known to value its human resources. I would welcome the opportunity for an interview, and I will follow up with you in a few days to explore this possibility.Thank you for your consideration.
