Sample cover letter for Internship position at Morgan Stanley

POSITION:

Sales and Trading

I am very excited to apply and express my interest in Morgan Stanley’s 2016 Fixed Income Summer Analyst program. I am extremely passionate about this opportunity and am confident that with my expertise, I would be an excellent fit.

I’ve grown a sincere interest in the financial industry through my Introduction to Business class. In a class of 170 students, I am currently ranked first in our MarketWatch virtual stock market game. I have turned an initial $1 million investment from September into $2.7 million today. I was able to do this through extensive market research and calculations using Excel and the Bloomberg terminal.

Although I do not come from a finance background, I am a fast learner, and would be able to develop a strong financial acumen quickly. What I can bring to the table is a sincere passion for learning, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and an extreme hunger for thinking outside the box. These traits are my most prized possessions, and they will allow me to contribute to my fullest potential from day one at Morgan Stanley.

Through my management consulting internship this past summer at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Strategic Innovation Group, I have learned how to interact with clients and solve complex business problems.
