Sample cover letter for Internship position at Morgan Stanley

I am currently a second year student studying Accounting and Finance at City University’s Cass Business School. I am writing to express interest towards the Morgan Stanley Summer Analyst Program, which I was introduced to after speaking with a current employee from the firm’s London office.

This semester I am pursuing interests in assurance, financial accounting, and econometrics as a focus in my degree curriculum. In the following semester, I will be pursuing coursework in risk analysis, financial modeling and asset management with the goal of even further strengthening my quantitative financial skillset.

During my most recent summer internship at Zhongrong Trust, I gained exposure to legal frameworks regarding investment allocation and participated in department meetings regarding investment risk evaluation and mitigation in the wake of downwards trends in Asian equity markets. As a result, I was able to experience the effects of market movements on long and short term investment outlooks. Prior to this, I gained exposure to retail operations and sales through client-facing roles at Alexander McQueen, where I was responsible for cultivating and maintaining core consumer relations to maximize revenue per customer. Prior to this, I gained experience in commercial operations at Spanish wholesales company Yonhoo CB, where I was able to gain a general understanding of B2B supply chain operations and efficiency.

My past experiences have given me introductory level exposure to areas including risk and investment management alongside business development while improving my teamwork and client facing skills. I believe Morgan Stanley’s internship program will provide the best means in which I will be able to further enrich my interests, knowledge, and skills in financial markets and investment analysis.
