Sample cover letter for Internship position at NBC

POSITION:

Entertainment Production

Dear [name]

My name is .... I read once that a person’s intelligence is not determined by the size of their brain, but by the number of connections within it. I believe that entertainment works in the same way. NBCUniversal is a pioneer in the industry by connecting a regular global viewership of millions. The company seeks to move people forward, spark conversation, and create the future by anticipating it. This company’s most valuable asset is people – understanding and serving them likewise. I am excited to intern with Late Night because I have a versatile background in entertainment and am readily prepared for a production position requiring timeliness, precision, acuity, and vigor. More importantly, I want to intern with Late Night because I am eager to assist NBC in its efforts to connect and serve people. Immersing myself in endless laughter would be fun, too.

For more than a decade I have been impressed as your customer audience; now I wish to help impress the audience as the NBC team has done so effectively for me. I am a junior Communications Studies major at .... with a focus in broadcasting. I won the 2012 Vanderbilt Book Essay Award – so yes, I can write well. I know that you are looking for more than just a standout student writer, and I feel I am capable of filling that role due to my unique and diverse background. Modeling briefly for Abercrombie & Fitch gave me a sweet taste of the entertainment industry. I am a visual artist: I specialize in graphite and excel in graphic design. Music is another passion: I coordinate my college’s male a capella ensemble and arrange hit songs into instrumental scores. I also studied acting with coach Bob Luke, assisted in the production of local comic operas, and also progressed through three audition rounds of American Idol back in 2014. After interning with The Walt Disney Company, I comprehend competitive corporate advantages, diversity significance, and brand essence in terms of consistent entertainment quality. Most importantly, Disney strengthened my love of serving people. I relish in customer service and in hard, genuine work, so NBCUniversal would value my commitment to completing even the most menial task with abundant zeal.

As I watch your programs, I am eager to know what goes on behind the scenes – what methods are used to get the show to the audience. I would thrive in this internship because it would provide an unparalleled opportunity to augment my goal of breaking into the production industry. I am confident that my skills and drive can add to the integrity and innovation of NBCUniversal. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, as I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you about the position. Thank you for your time and consideration.
