Sample cover letter for Internship position at Nectar and Root

POSITION:

Intern

Date: 3/10/15

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to express my interest in the position of Marketing and Special Events intern.

I am currently a junior at XXX majoring in English with a minor in public communication. I have a background in writing, PR and communications. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to further my experience in the PR field with the prospect of a marketing and special events internship. Event planning has always attracted me as a career choice. I became more intrigued by the field of event planning when I interned for XXX my freshman year of college. Through this internship I was able to see first hand what it was to host an event. Each month, XXX put on a potluck dinner event at various locations around Chicago where various literary artists were able to showcase their talents. Part of my responsibility was to assist in social media and generating enough buzz around the event to attract attendees.

Other related experience I have includes my previous summer job, which was canvassing for XXX. Through this job I was able to gain experience working with a non-profit, in addition to furthering my ability to communicate with all types of people. My duties included operating booths at various farmers markets, parades, festivals and fundraising for their summer campaign.

I feel that I would fit in perfectly as an intern for XXXX. I love the idea of being part of crafting such a special day for two people. I would be an integral part of adding creativity to the arrangements, in addition to being a powerful resource in assisting to market the XXX brand.

Feel free to reach me at XXX with any questions. I am confident that I would be an essential part of helping to execute and market these events, in addition to being a useful intern. Thank you for your time—I look forward to learning more about this opportunity!

Sincerely,

XXXXXX
