Sample cover letter for Internship position at Nielsen

POSITION:

Summer Finance Intern

Dear Hiring Manager,

It is with great excitement that I am applying for the Finance – 2016 Emerging Leaders – Summer Intern position at Nielsen. As a *** accounting major and finance minor at ***, I have taken on many opportunities to develop diverse skills such as the ability to communicate, solve problems and prioritize work. Nielsen’s Finance Internship - Emerging Leaders program will allow me to further build on my knowledge in marketing and finance.

My ambition and willingness to learn contributed to my success interning at *** . The combined effort of 6 interns, including myself managed to attract 10,000 users weekly for a 6-week period. I overcame my challenge in the sales position to secure over 20 partnerships with venues in New York City through constant practice and revision of strategy. I became much more educated about Nielsen through my time at ***, because it shares a similar business model that also reflects the importance of consumer behavior.

The advice I received from my supervisor at *** was to “set a goal before starting any assignment for better efficiency” and has stuck with me ever since. It seemed like common sense, but it really made a difference when I actually looked to apply it. For example, I had many ideas for a social media marketing plan, but I was able to be more concise after setting a specific goal to target primarily homebuyers and sellers on Facebook and agents on Twitter.

My internship in both of these companies have prepared me well to take on new challenges. Through coursework, I have a good understanding of what to expect in a finance role and I envision my time here as a valuable and rewarding experience.

I would love to meet you and further discuss my fit for this position. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
