As an undergraduate I have enjoyed finding creative solutions to engineering problems using various computer applications, such as AutoCad, Maple, Unisim and Microsoft Office in particularly those requiring design skills. I like working in an organised and dedicated manner, which has yielded very positive results in both my previous employment and my current studies.

One of my most testing and rewarding experiences of my engineering course so far has been leading a team of four in designing an economical viable bioethanol production plant, this allowed me to apply all my learned concepts to a specific topical issue. Outside of academics I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as Sports Chair on the Departments Student Federation, where my main tasks have been to organise and develop sport within the University’s 19 departments. I am also an active member of the University Finance Society. These experiences have given me the opportunity to hone my leadership, communication and organisational skills to achieve outstanding results. I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills during my placement.

I am particularly impressed by Nomura’s history of sustained success in the industry, which was highlighted by Investment Banking gross revenues reaching ¥184.3 billion in the last fiscal year. This coupled with a North American expansion; shows that Nomura is a well run firm and the place to be for aspiring students as myself. Research leads me to believe that Nomura’s breadth is overwhelming, and the internship Programme will offer a complete industry insight allowing me to make an informed career decision.
