Sample cover letter for Internship position at Pacific Northwest
To whom it may concern,
In response to your job posting on HuskyJobs website, please consider my resume in your search for a staff accountant. I am currently a student at the University of Washington, majoring in Accounting & Information Systems. I am confident that my relevant experience and education make me well suited for this position.
Over the course of education at the University, I became adept at both interpersonal skills and full-charge bookkeeping of the source documents and financial statements. This spring in my Tax Accounting (ACCTG 321) class, I had the responsibility for advising my client in regard to his tax effects of a like-kind exchange decision. I learned to be meticulously detail oriented and prudent in my calculation and preparation of documents for tax purposes. As a result I successfully achieved excellence in the class under a tight schedule of work and school and earned a high grade, both overall and for the project in particular.
In addition, I had the opportunity training and working at the Liberty Tax Service, where I gained my exposure to the field of personal taxation. At the job, I assumed various responsibilities, ranging from safeguarding important source documents, reconciling invoices, to interviewing clients effectively and computing their tax liabilities accurately, with full compliance with the federal Internal Revenue Codes and local requirements. I familiarized myself with a variety of W-2, 1099, K-1, various schedules, and other forms. I learned to have a positive attitude and take ownership of the tasks to which I was assigned with minimal supervision. As a result, I became the youngest tax preparer at the Seattle branch who accomplished more than 60 returns, error free, in one season. Provided the opportunity, I would like to support your business goals and growth with my exceptional accounting skills.
For the past 4 years, I have proven to be highly adaptable and competent in every work environment to which I belong. My passion lies in the field I study, and I believe I can be a valuable asset to your company. I would love the opportunity to meet with you for an in-depth interview.
Please find my resume attached which contains an overview of my qualifications. I am more than happy to provide references upon request. I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you for your consideration.
