I am a fourth year undergraduate student of department of mining engineering, IIT Kharagpur. It is with a great enthusiasm that I am applying for the position of Associate at Parthenon. After carefully learning about the firm’s profile I was impressed by the culture Parthenon fosters and the way it faces challenges to give optimized solution to its clients. Throughout my life, I have endeavoured to learn, which is reflected in my academic record. Currently, I am the topper of my department with a CGPA of 8.70.I am the recipient of the prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Prosahan Yojana (KVPY) scholarship and National Talent Search Examination(NTSE) scholarship. Apart from this, I have qualified several other national level olympiads. To gain valuable experience of working in corporate environment, I have undertaken two internships, one at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and the other at Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC).At ONGC, I worked as a technical analyst. I studied the energy scenario in India and assessed the technical and economic viability of Underground Coal Gasification process .The internship helped me to hone my research and analytical skills .At GMDC, I worked as a field engineer. The internship helped me to gain profound knowledge on extraction and transportation process in open cast coal mine. I also established a truck shovel cycle distribution curve and calculated the expected cycle time for the truck and shovel and the variance associated with them. My university curriculum has equipped me to take up any challenge in Business Analysis and quantitative methods. My coursework includes crucial subjects like Data Analytics, Quantitative Decision Making, Probability and Statistics, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Economics, Introduction to Financial Management and Economics of Mining Enterprises which has strengthened my analytical and critical thinking. I have also acquired technical skills like SQL, R programming, Python, working with databases through open online courses platforms like Coursera and CodeAcademy. Under my B.Tech project, I am working on a truck allocation/dispatch model using linear programming and queuing theory. The model aims to minimize the number of trucks allocated to a particular shovel, considering throughput and grade constraint and establish a non-linear relationship between truck throughput and number of trucks allocated to a shovel. Apart from studies, I take keen interest in sports particularly football. Currently, I am the captain of the football team of our hall of residence. My tenure as a captain has taught me the values of teamwork and leadership. Last year, I captained the team in inter-hall football competition in which our team reached the quarter-final stage. Last year, I was also a part of team that participated in Mineral Development Awareness and Quiz Programme (MDAQ) organised by Tata Steel and stood second among mining students. I possess good communication skills. I am a team player and I have an open mind to face any problem. I hope my qualification and skills commensurate with the requirements of the job profile being offered.
