Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Pilkington

POSITION:

Material Physicist

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for the Graduate Material Physicist role, as advertised on Indeed. I have attached my CV for your consideration.

I graduated this summer with a first class MSci in Physics at Queen Mary University of London. I am now looking to apply the knowledge I have acquired into the workplace and a career with Pilkington would be the perfect way to do this.

I believe I have many skills and qualities that could benefit the company. I am a team player and I have excellent project management skills, developed during my undergraduate studies. During my 3rd year, I carried out a project about the top quark, studying its production, decays and properties. Hence, I developed data analysis and numeracy skills and I learned the basics of how to run physical tests. Furthermore, I am accustomed to keeping laboratory records, preparing and reporting on test results and summarizing them in form of presentations. I did so several times during the laboratory experience of my 1st year and during a training period as laboratory assistant at Azienda Ospedaliera di Verona Hospital. Moreover, I am able to adapt to new situations quickly, I have an investigative nature and I am eager to learn new concepts and ideas, which I grasp easily and efficiently.

Furthermore, I am confident that I can actively help the organization mainly because I am driven by passion for the scientific field.

I would welcome the opportunity to explain more about my interest in this role and the skills and experience that I can bring.

Yours sincerely,

XY.
