XXX LLP

999 Pillow Puff Lane

Dear Mr. xxx:

My name is xxx, a junior at The University of XXX and I would like to be considered for an internship in the Audit Department of XXX, LLP’s XXX office.

I am interested in a summer audit internship position because I believe that it would provide me with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in the audit practice, a career path I’m interested in following. I have spoken with various professionals and our discussions have inspired me to pursue a career in audit because of the ability to work with various clients and learn more about the companies an audit professional would work with, which has always been an interest of mine. I anticipate that this type of internship would offer students such as myself an opportunity to attain audit experiences, team-building and networking with business professionals, which would expand my knowledge towards my future career in audit.

As you will see in my resume (attached), I have had many different experiences which will enable me to bring to the table many strengths. Among those strengths are the ability to work well with others, analyze books and records of companies and quickly learn how to use computer programs. I am also proficient in using basic and advanced computer programs potentially helpful in an audit internship. Further, I gained very valuable soft skills working with and in the various companies for which I worked and the companies those companies interfaced with [change so doesn’t end in a proposition]. I took away many great tips about networking with people in various positions and the necessary presentation skills that I now use in my educational endeavors. I enjoyed my various jobs and positions learning more about how to respect the companies’ culture and people. Further, as stated above, my networking with professionals/business people has provided me with further knowledge of the audit position and your firm which I would certainly like to work for [again, get rid of ending with a preposition]. The combined skills and knowledge increased my interest and reassured my decision to go into audit as a future career, hopefully with a prestigious firm such as XXX, LLP.

Finally, I gained leadership skills, knowledge about professional mannerisms and the ability to work as part of a team that further developed the skills put forth above. My experiences and skills are, I believe, some of the strengths that I can offer to the internship position.

I hope you will see what I have put forth above in my attached resume and that we can arrange to meet so that we can discuss the contributions I believe I can bring to this internship position. If you require any additional information, please contact me at the phone number and e-mail listed in my attached resume.

Best Regards,

XXX
