Sample cover letter for Internship position at Quantitative Business Analyst

POSITION:

Ameritas Investment Corp

I am writing to apply for the role of Quantitative Business Analyst Intern at Ameritas Investment Corp in Nebraska. I am a strong candidate for this internship role based on almost 5 years experience working with big data sets at Schlumberger following my BSEE degree as well as my current enrollment in the graduate degree in Computational Finance & Risk Management in the Dept. of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle.

As part of my UW course work, I extensively use the R statistical software to download, clean and fit models to large financial data sets to measure risk metrics and returns. I also used my programming skills in C++ to develop financial applications for pricing and hedging options and other financial instruments. This work included the creation of Excel Add-Ins for the financial applications using C++ in conjunction with libraries such as QuantLib, Boost, STL and XLW.

Prior to joining the UW as a Computational Finance and Risk Management student, I worked as a Senior Seismic Engineer for Schlumberger Limited (SLB) with the Marine Data Acquisition department. At SLB, I used the UNIX environment and the PostgreSQL Database management system to acquire and analyze large seismic datasets for top oil and gas firm such as BP, Conoco Philips and Total Oil.

My experience as a Senior Seismic Engineer for Schlumberger, working in team environments, along with my developing knowledge and skills in quantitative finance and risk analytics, provide me with the knowledge, maturity, and skills that would be applicable for the Ameritas Investment Corp Quantitative Business Analyst Intern position. I have attached my résumé for your review and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you at xxx-xxx-xxx or communicate via email at xxxx@outlook.com. Thank you for your consideration.
