Sample cover letter for Internship position at RBC

POSITION:

Business Analyst

To Whom It May Concern:

I am an Electrical Engineering major from McGill University and am writing to express my interest in the summer Business Analyst Co-op position advertised on the RBC website.

Unlike other candidates you’re seeing who seem enthusiastic about consulting, I am certain of my interest in consulting because of my recent NGO internship at Maitri as their Youth Outreach Analyst. Working extensively in the public sector for eight months, I analyzed an investment opportunity for a private equity fund thus improving the effectiveness of marketing interventions. As a testimony to my strong analytical skills, I developed an Excel model for the valuation using both multiple and discounted cash flow methods and prepared documentation for tactical marketing initiatives.

At AstraZeneca, I developed the core competencies needed to succeed in a rigorous team oriented environment. My assignments at AstraZeneca took place at a national level, providing me with diverse responsibilities and independence. As the project lead for the Hardware Deployment, my highly developed communication sills, leadership and interpersonal skills bridged the gap between the IT and Sales team when preparing deployment initiatives.

In addition my university curriculum has readied me for the challenges in business analysis, quantitative methods and organization behavior. Despite my various time commitments with school clubs and organization, I am maintaining a 3.12 GPA. As evidenced by my excelled educational performance, I am confidant I will be able to adapt to the challenging demands of RBC.

Through my experiences in past coop placements, I have enhanced my business acumen to compliment my engineering background. With developed leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills, I collaborate with my colleagues to identify opportunities to exceed deliverables. With my quantitative training, creative problem solving skills and relevant coursework and professional experience, I am confident of excelling in the position of Analyst at RBC.

I hope you will find my knowledge and experience a great potential addition to RBC. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
