Sample cover letter for Internship position at RBS

POSITION:

Analyst

I have recently completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics at Royal Holloway University of London, attaining Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1). I was recently introduced to your firm via CityJobs and was instantly interested in the role you have available. I am keen to pursue a position at your firm, and have enclosed my resume and background information.

During my course, I specialised in Financial Markets, Industrial Organistation, and Economics of Conflict. My course has aided me to gain an excellent understanding of economic theory and its practical implications. I have experience of undertaking analytical work using advanced Excel formulae and statistical programming packages, completing projects with minimal supervision whilst also excelling in a team working to tight deadlines. I am committed to continuously improving quality standards when performing statistical analysis of data accompanied with a strong attention to detail. I am a proactive self starter, and can identify the source of a problem without losing sight of the bigger picture. I have the drive to follow them through to a resolution whilst communicating complex findings in an understandable form to others. All of these skills acquired from my degree can lead to me making a significant contribution in your team, and in return allow me to gain excellent career development.

Aside from my degree, I have an ability to generate and maintain positive relationships with peers in and out of work, and can identify and appreciate people’s strengths and weaknesses. Whether it be organizing an alternative music night at my Students Union or preparing for a sporting competition, I take pride in working hard in order to achieve a positive outcome and thrive working under large amounts of pressure.
