Sample cover letter for Internship position at Roland Berger

POSITION:

Internship

Dear Human Resources Director,

My name is X; I’m an Italian Management Engineer at Politecnico of Milan, currently attending a double degree in Finance at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. I met your company for the first time on the occasion of the Carrefour HEC – Career Fair in Paris. Always fascinated by the consultancy world, in deciding which management consultancy to apply for, I chose Roland Berger because of the people that I met during the above-mentioned event. More specifically, I found the human capital to be not only bright and professional, as you would expect from consultants, but also incredibly down-to-earth and very inspiring. I want to be part of such a stimulating work environment and I would be pleased to start anytime from 1 June this year.

As far as my personality is concerned, I guess I am a very keen observer, and I would like to think I have very good imagination. I understand that is naïve to expect information be spoon-fed to you and hence, I always try to learn by observation. I always try to challenge myself and to explore my limits; this is one of the main reasons why I opted for a double degree in a foreign country. I chose to follow the classes of both Financial and Economic majors, and I believe that the dual nature of my degree courses has prepared me for being capable to offer you a real and genuine added value. In particular, following a deeply analysis of General and Business Economics, I am this year attending more specific classes in Corporate Finance, Finance structuring and Financial Markets. Moreover, thanks to the numerous courses and the international experience, I have gained competences in teamwork, communication and intercultural management. Actually I won’t waste your time inflating my expertise, throwing around exaggerating job titles, or feeding you line about how my past experiences and skill set align perfectly for a consultancy internship. The truth is I have no unbelievably special skills or genius eccentricities, but I do have a near perfect GPA and will work very hard for you.

In closing, I am thrilled at the possibility of meeting with you and discuss the value that I can bring to Roland Berger.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this application, I am looking forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours faithfully,

X
