Sample cover letter for Internship position at Rutgers

POSITION:

consultant

Hello, Team University Career Services!

I am glad to get to know about position opening at University Career Services. I have been

willing to work for UCS since long time. I am a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering

department and will be completing one wonderful year at Rutgers in a week. I am always curious

to know about how UCS works and manages relationships with different industry giants. I would

love to learn more about this interesting work and would definitely perform duties adeptly given

a chance. Sincerity, hard-work and dedication are three strong principles of my life and hence I

think I would be fit for this position possessing experience in human interaction, time

management & technical skills.

I have been an active student so far whether it was undergraduate school or graduate school. I

have worked part-time during my undergraduate studies back in India. I have successfully

performed duties of a lecturer at an academic institution called “Logic Academy”. I used to take

lectures on quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning & general knowledge quizzes. I used to

design my own lectures considering various topics of reasoning and logical aptitude. I used to

deliver those lectures as well and clarify doubts of the students. I always made sure every student

has understood the concepts delivered in the lectures and its future application. This part-time

job was for 7 months and it enhanced my leadership, punctuality, management & persistence

skills. This job has helped me learn a lot on professional front. I have even had two internship

experiences in my technical field which is Mechanical Engineering back in India. These

internships have taught me discipline, technical awareness, industry innovations & strategies, out

of the box thinking, practical application of theory principles & time management. I have also

worked for Office of Disabilities Services (ODS) for past two semesters and have successfully

performed duties of a proctor without even failing once. My punctuality is lauded by Team ODS.

Currently, I am doing an internship in a company called “Consulting Engineering Services” at

Manhattan, New York. I am a summer intern here. I have been working here since May 2015 and

so far it has been a great experience learning new things. I will be available immediately once the

Fall 2015 semester starts at Rutgers. Being an intern, I do technical calculations & develop

building envelop design, refrigeration load analysis, design of gas riser diagram & duct sizing.

Along with technical learning, I have also developed skills of client management, create

proposals for projects, review submittals & prepare official documents for the office. My

adaptability, zeal for learning new things and enthusiasm will be beneficial to the office. Highly

motivated with an energetic persona, I am very excited to learn new skills while contributing to

UCS office. I will make sure I fulfill the responsibilities given to me being in good harmony with

industry giants as well as my supervisor at UCS office.

Thank you,

Malav D. Ashara,

Graduate Student, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department,
