Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Scotiabank

POSITION:

Global Risk Management Associate Program

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to you today to express my desire to be part of the highly reputable GRM Associate Program at Scotiabank. With my previous experience at the Bank and my international background, I am confident that I will fit right in with the brightest minds in the industry.

Communicating on the international market is a very important tactic BNS has looked to implement to fulfill its strategy to expand into the Latin American market. Nelson Mandela once said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart,” and so therefore it is a foregone conclusion that in order to meet expectations of growth in the Latin American market, the Bank needs to focus on having talented individuals who can communicate with the local markets. As someone who grew up in Mexico, my language fluency in four languages will help me effectively communicate with business partners across the world.

Furthermore, experiencing hands-on what GRM is like at Scotiabank over the summer of 2015 made me understand the way the Bank conducts its business. Furthermore, I also got to see how BNS establishes each transaction based off the morals of not only doing what is best for our shareholders but also what is best for the global communities. By working on the e-1035 project team, I developed professional relationships with those who knew the risk appetite for the Bank and were more than willing to share their knowledge. Knowing the system and the culture of the bank made me very comfortable in looking out to start the development of my young career with the department.

Realizing the opportunities of growth in the international market, Scotiabank has become Canada’s most international bank. Global Risk Management is essential to the growth the Bank wishes to reach and an opportunity to develop communities across the world is something that I want to do in my professional career. What I may lack in work experience that is expected of the average candidate for the Program will be made up through my skills and my dedication to the Bank.

Writing to you today does not paint the full picture I would like to communicate with you so I wish to have the opportunity to either speak to you in person or over the phone. I am hopeful to be selected out of the pool of highly qualified candidates to join one of the best Associate Programs out there.

Thank you for your time and have a great rest of the week!

Kindest Regards,

AB
