Please accept the accompanying resume as an application for the position of Co–op Tax Accounting posted on the University of Waterloo’s online job posting system. I am currently a second year student at the University of Waterloo, enrolled in the Accounting and Financial Management program and am hoping to secure a four-month winter position. My experience, education, exceptional analytical and communication skills will make me an asset to Softron’s accounting department. I am very interested in becoming a part of Softron Tax and contributing to the development of providing leading computerized accounting & tax services.

My work experience at Walmart has given me the skills to work in a fast paced environment where customer service and timeliness are necessary to succeed. As a cashier I was required to deal with customers on a daily basis, this gave me the opportunity to excel at evolving my interpersonal and communication skills. I responded to customers via phone or in person and my responses were always in a timely and professional manner. I have demonstrated the ability to effectively handle situations or inquiries with customers while following policies, procedures and standard processes. You will find I am detail oriented and able to analyze, prioritize and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

In addition to my work experience, for my two senior years of high school, I had the opportunity to spear head an overnight event to promote girls’ self-esteem. Being the leader of this event, I put together a committee of 50 female students to help with planning and organization. This experience allowed me to learn to work with others and understand team dynamics. I was required to work with a strict budget of $1500 which put limitations on the planning. I was required to, independently, put forth many proposals to the school’s principal, organize a bake sale, locate donors, and prepare financial statements. I was required to use strong analytical skills in order to effectively manage the budget. Through this experience I was able to strengthen my attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills by working under pressure.
