Sample cover letter for Internship position at U.S.Builders

POSITION:

Summer intern

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Hiring Manager:

I am writing this letter to express my excitement for an Intern position at [Company]. I

learned about your internship program as well as the company through an interaction with Mr. XYZ

(Senior Project Engineer) at XYZ University’s Building Construction Management Career fair. I have been

seeking an organization whose mission and core values matches my desire to deliver quality services to clients in

an honest and transparent way by collaborative addressing the complex problems with complete integrity. [Company]  having established itself as a brand in these aspects, inspired me to write this letter for an Intern position.

As a candidate for a Master of Science in Civil Engineering at XYZ University, with specialization Construction Engineering

and Management (CEM), I plan to graduate in December 20XX. Through my exposure to a gamut of core CEM

courses like Construction Project Control Systems, Construction Business Management, Computer Applications in

Construction and Infrastructure Planning, I developed a sound understanding of planning, scheduling, estimating

and use of computer technology/applications in construction projects. Moreover, by successfully undertaking

team projects in these courses, I have equipped myself with strong analytical, quantitative and communication

skills.

As an intern at ABC company, I worked closely with various participants in the construction industry for 9 months in total. I acquired knowledge of project planning & controls, BIM, estimation, and scheduling. During these internships, I received an opportunity to get hands-on experience on software like ‘Primavera P6’, ‘AutoCAD’ and ‘Revit Architecture’ to review & design

building models and prepare schedules. Moreover, my oral and written communication skills further enhanced

by an exposure to technical report writing and by performing backup functions for client communication. As an

overall experience of these internships, I developed my managerial, technical and interpersonal skills necessary

to achieve positive outcomes in this role.

As an event head of a Green building module in Mindspark’12(An annual national level tech fest of my

undergraduate college), I honed my ability to make favorable decisions, plan and organize my time, work well in

a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Finally, I bring an entrepreneurial spirit and creativity to this position,

as evidenced by my experience of designing, patenting, and strategizing commercialization of a sustainable

construction material developed by my colleague and myself.

I am excited about engaging in various facets of the construction world and would welcome an opportunity to

showcase my abilities further at a personal interview for an Intern position in your company. Should you have

questions or need any further information, I can be reached at [Phone] and [Email].

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
