I am writing because I believe I am uniquely qualified to provide technical assistance and management support for the implementation of the UNESCO Yangon STEM project as the Teacher Education Project Officer. I understand this project is being funded by the Australian Government, and is aimed at improving teacher ability to manage classrooms, and teach diverse groups of children.Classroom management and differentiation are areas of teacher training that I am highly skilled at delivering, and I have been sought after as a consultant for diverse groups of teachers including teachers of ESL, teachers of Arabic, and teachers working in informal education. I am committed to improving teacher education through improved planning and management, and have focused academically on instructional supervision and teacher professional development.Professionally, I have worked to strengthen the capacity of teacher education in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and would bring valuable insight and experience to the project.
This position requires facilitating workshops and national conferences to build capacity around key Education College planning and management issues. Planning workshops and national conferences is a particular strength, having spent three years delivering workshops and training days for educators in Malaysia. These workshops and training days included teachers, school administrators, and regional administrators. I am especially keen at designing and delivering engaging content driven workshops that build the confidence and capacity of attendees.
Liaising with partners is another particular strength of mine. I am at ease and confident interacting with individuals of diverse backgrounds, and am a persuasive communicator. While working for HasNa, a DC based NGO, I helped promote their mission by liaising with donor organizations and potential partners. I succeeded in in building HasNa’s network of partners, and secured in-kind donations for a project on improving teacher professional development in Turkey.
I will bring to the STEM project and the UNESCO Yangon office a firm commitment to UNESCO’s mission and experience working in a UNESCO field office, ten years of experience in the education sector including five years of experience in instructional supervision and teacher training. I have the willingness and ability to take initiative to support the office staff in all of their endeavors. My commitment to improving the quality of education globally is unwavering. I believe that quality of education is firmly linked to the quality of training and support that teachers receive prior to starting their careers and throughout their careers.
