Sample cover letter for Internship position at UQ

POSITION:

Scholarship

Throughout my senior schooling I have undertaken great challenges with academic work-loads, as well as other external work-loads from work and co-curricular activities. On top on the intensive workloads from my studies across 2013 and 2014 I have been working as boundary umpire for community footy as well as participating in various school sports. Between umpires training, cross country training, athletics training and tennis training, I found myself training 5 times a week for most of the year as well as having my Saturdays engulfed by school sport and umpiring. From this I have learnt how to manage my time to be stay committed to both my sport and my study and achieve the greatest possible level that I can in both of these facets of life. This ability of attaining high levels of co-curricular involvement whilst also attaining high academic achievements is something I look forward to carrying forward into university and beyond. My course of choice for university and career aspirations resides in engineering. Our world is driven by engineers and it is their work that shapes the future. Being part of something that changes the world we live in would be not only be a monumental achievement for myself to be part of such a thing, but also for the world as a whole. In the June-July holidays I partook in the engineering link program and then in the September school holidays of 2014 I completed work experience with an engineering firm from September 29th – October 3rd. These experiences provided me with an invaluable insight to the field of engineering. From having such a detailed insight into the field of engineering and knowing the knowledge and skill that is required, I now look forward to future studies and career prospects in the field of engineering.
