Sample cover letter for Internship position at Under Armour

POSITION:

Summer Intern

Dear UA University Recruiting Team,

I am very interested in the 2017 Summer League Internship Program with your events and hospitality team. The exponential growth that Under Armour has experienced since its birth in 1996 intrigues me. And it excites me to know that Under Armour is “just getting started”. I want to be apart of a company that is making such impressive strides and that continues to create innovative products that keep the consumer’s best interest in mind.

I am currently enrolled at Johns Hopkins University and am in my first semester of my sophomore year. I am a Sociology major with a minor in Marketing and Communications. Growing up as an athlete in Baltimore has fostered an intense passion for both sports and the Under Armour Brand. My passion, drive, strong communication, and interpersonal skills would be a great asset to the Under Armour team.

As a member of the Women’s Lacrosse team at Johns Hopkins, I know what it means to be a team player and get a project done. You need to take everyone's ideas into account, see the different viewpoints, and understand how to come to the common goal to finish the job. Between balancing the rigors of lacrosse and academics, I have mastered the ability to manage my time and work under tight deadlines. My teachers and coaches alike have commended me for my willingness to participate and take risks, all with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. I am a detail-oriented and outgoing people person that is able to prioritize tasks and work under multiple deadlines. My strong leadership and communication skills will ensure that I can meet the expectations of this role. As you will see from my attached resume, I was able to successfully organize a fund raising event for a classmate that passed away from melanoma. I was responsible for all facets of the event including booking revenue, sponsors, hiring talent, promoting, and managing ticket sales. I promoted this event through local media which resulted in multiple interviews with local TV stations like WBAL and WJZ. We convinced over 30 local businesses to donate auction items and as a result of our efforts, we raised $23,000.

My coaches have characterized me as a “sponge.” In other words, I can adapt, absorb, and learn information quickly and efficiently. Under Armour is a brand that is constantly evolving, and as a member of your team, I can respond quickly and positively to change.

I am confident that I will be a valuable asset to Under Armour and be able to learn and adapt quickly to the new environment. I have the desire and enthusiasm to make a difference in your company. I look forward to hearing from you and having the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Alexandra Seward
