As a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, I was excited to hear about the Financial Analyst-Customer Operations/Sales FP&A role at VMWare and was deeply impressed by the responsibilities and opportunities analysts have to make impact on the company. Although my background has primarily been in finance, I have always had a keen interest in how technology can be utilized to improve people’s lives and experiences, and as a result, am looking to transition into the tech industry. In addition, I have developed a passion for learning about the inner-workings of a business- what makes a business successful, what sorts of strategies it should employ, and what sort of planning goes behind a successful business model. As a result, I believe that this role is the perfect hybrid that will allow me to gain in-depth knowledge about how VMWare operates while allowing me to utilize my skills in finance to help the company grow. Through my past experiences, I have developed the transferrable skills would make me a successful addition to your team. I was able to fully develop my analytical through conducting due diligence processes for client companies throughout my time at XXXXX.  As an investment analyst, I excelled at reviewing and preforming due diligence and conducting in-depth financial analysis on various capital goods, manufacturing, and consumer goods companies. Following my initial success, I was given increased responsibility, including creating annual analytical reports on the latest relevant industries and possible investment risk and merits. I was able to help put together pricing, credit, and authorization memos that not only helped to develop my analytical skills as well as solidify my written communication abilities. I believe that the skills I learned will provide me with a strong analytical foundation needed in a career in the tech industry.

I have also had the opportunity to not only develop my analytical skills but also fine-tune my ability to work under time constraints, collaborate in a team setting, take initiative and foster communication amongst team members. For example, as the community service chair of Phi Beta Lambda- Future Business Leaders of America, I was in charge of arranging a large-scale community outreach event called Springland for 800+ Oakland parents and children with no budget. With one month to plan and a six-person team, I was able to foster effective communication between each individual to successfully plan this event. In the end, we were able to obtain adequate donations, sponsorships, foods, and game supplies that sufficed the participants. My ability to work in a team cooperatively as I demonstrated during my time as the community service chair will enable me to work easily with different groups as well as adapt to unprecedented challenges that may arise. With my ability to remain flexible and work in teams, these skills will allow me to be a successful team member at VMWare.
