Sample cover letter for Internship position at Valuentum Securities

POSITION:

Equity Research Analyst Intern

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Mr. Nelson,

My name is , and I am a Sophomore Accountancy major here at NIU. We spoke briefly at the internship fair on October 20th, and I am very interested in becoming an Equity Analyst Intern for Valuentum Securities. I believe my strong academic performance, technological skills, and passionate interest and background in business and the capital markets are appropriate for this position.

You indicate that a few requirements for this position are to be able to use Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. We are in the most socially connected generation of all time. I am using technology almost 24/7, and I have been using it all of my life. I recently took an OMIS class which emphasizes all the tools of Microsoft Office which include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc. and I received an A and have had many hours of practice with Microsoft Office. I have also done some work with Adobe Acrobat in converting files to the PDF format and have a good general base in the use of this program. I am currently in the class Accounting 206 which is financial accounting. This deals with all the financial statements and the summary, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions. I currently have a 97.5 % in this class. I also am taking business statistics which I also have an A in, and my overall GPA is a 3.73. Growing up I would watch my dad sit at his desk and trade the stock market. Ever since I began doing this, I have been intrigued. He is the one who got me interested in the business world. There are so many different factors affecting business, and it is all so fascinating. I have had some experience with platforms and trading because of my dad. I have practiced analyzing trend lines, volume spikes, and world events affecting the markets. I have also had experience researching companies to make an inference about what will happen to their stock next. This includes quarterly earnings reports, company events, stock splits, etc. I also participated in the stock market game senior year of high school where I won first place in my class. I was also business student of the year the same year.

Attached is a copy of my resume which more fully details my qualifications for this position. I look forward to further conversations with you regarding the opportunity of becoming an Equity Analyst Intern. Thank you very kindly for your consideration.

Sincerely,
