am writing to apply for the full time position of a Business Consultant at ZS Associates. Based on my research about the firm and my conversations with ABC and XYZ I am positive that ZS Associates will be a great fit for me and that with my background I can make an effective contribution in the firm’s growth and success. The firm’s focus on marketing and sales strategy, along with the analytical rigor and the qualitative research required has a strong appeal for me. In one of our conversations, ABC mentioned how global teams collaborate in order to ensure the best and the most optimum solutions for the clients. I also learnt that in addition to empowering business consultants to manage teams, ZS Associates enables them to work on multiple projects which ensure the diversity in work. All the above mentioned aspects align very well with my career plans. ABC and XYZ also spoke about interesting projects involving market mix optimization, operations prioritization and sales force redesign, the strategy details and modelling of which highly interest me. In addition to my professional experience, my exposure to Booth courses like marketing strategy, competitive strategy, applied regression and managerial decision modelling have helped me further build keen interest and acumen in this line of work. I would love the opportunity to work at a prestigious firm like ZS Associates.

I am currently working as a Design Engineer in the ABC division of ABC Electronics. In my current role, I am bestowed with the responsibility of ensuring the successful release of innovative products. In order to ensure the same, I have to extensively collaborate with the marketing, sales, purchasing and the finance teams. The design phase involves a lot of analytical rigor to ensure that the specifications are met. In addition, I have taken the added responsibility of working with the marketing/product management team where I work with them to formulate customer requirement specs and business case reports. Also, I have been assigned as a project manager for one of the key products which is currently in the process of being released. I have worked in variety of leadership roles where I was required to manage direct reports as well as lead cross functional teams. My experience as well as education has helped me understand the importance of data driven decisions to achieve business goals. I enjoy working on diverse cases/projects and help the firm achieve highest quality results in terms of client’s success.

Consulting offers one of the unique opportunities to think about critical business challenges and apply analytical models in this context. In the product lead role, I was the lead representative of development group in cross functional team which analyzed ways to improve profitability of a product line. This experience helped me realize my passion for working in a setting similar to consulting. My current role allows me to interact with key ABC stakeholders and clients. This helps me understand the importance of building a consultant like approach of structured argument to communicate effectively and build consensus on suggested solution.
