It is with great enthusiasm that I am applying for the Position of Business Analyst/Quantitative Analyst at American International Group listed on NYU CareerNet. After carefully learning about the firm’s profile I was impressed by the culture AIG fosters and the way it faces challenges to give optimized solutions to its clients. I am keen to gain a deeper insight into a career as an Analyst due to its intellectual rigor reinforcing my desire to apply to AIG.

Currently, I am a Masters Student at New York University majoring in Management of Technology with a specialization in Business Analytics. During my Masters, I have been in charge of various positions across diverse departments with multitude of responsibilities. Presently, I am working as a Graduate Assistant at NYU Moses Center for Students with Disabilities where I am responsible for handling the Service Provider Management Portal. I also lead a team of proctors and note-takers who under my supervision tend to the needs of the differently abled students and meet them effectively. This summer, I worked as a Human Resource Assistant at NYU’s HR department. During my tenure, I collaborated with the Office of Learning and Organizational Development in the design, adaptation and delivery of learning programs. Ensured that the employees’ complaints were handled appropriately. I used to work in close liaison with payroll to help employees resolve payroll related problems. This helped in developing a deeper understanding of Human Resources and the significant role it plays in managing the workforce of any organization. I had the opportunity to work closely under the Director of Operations, Maxine Gruner, which helped me grow both personally and professionally.

My university curriculum has equipped me to take any challenges in Business Analysis, quantitative methods, and organizational behavior. My coursework includes crucial subjects like Data Mining for Business Analytics, Business Analytics & Data Visualization which has strengthened my analytical and critical thinking. For my academic projects, I devised a project management strategy for a grocery chain to help reduce the major problems faced by customers during grocery shopping. Financial analysis of a major corporation in the form of a case study to help determine the risks associated with the accusation by developing an Excel model for the valuation using both multiple and discounted cash flow methods. I have led my project groups on a number of occasions which has helped me in developing people management skills. Furthermore, my excellent academic performance reflects upon my GPA, which increased tremendously from 3.4 in the first semester to 3.9 in the second, exhibiting my hard work and determination. It brings me great joy to learn about knowledge that I can apply to future workplaces which encouraged me to acquire technical skills such as SQL, R programming, working with databases through massive open online courses platforms like Coursera and Codecademy. I also hold a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I have sharpened my decision making skills while supporting the operations of an electrical utility and an electrical equipment supply company over two summers as an intern.

I take pride in my innate leadership potential. I was the Graduate Orientation Leader for the New Graduate Student Orientation Program 2015 at NYU. My responsibilities included spearheading and motivating the orientation team to do their tasks effectively and involving everyone towards achieving a common goal. I am confident that my qualification and skills will make me standout from all the other fellow applicants.
