Sample cover letter for Internship position at common wealth

POSITION:

analyst

To whom it may concern,

I would like to be considered for the Research Intern position in the Economic Policy Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat. Having recently undertaken a work experience program at the Trade Policy Division of the Secretariat, I understand the level of commitment and motivation required for this job. During my time at the secretariat I acquainted myself with trade projects and trade policy issues with a focus on understanding the linkage between trade and immigration. In effect, I produced a short briefing paper discussing the issue and delineating the econometric method that could be used to test certain hypothesis. I wrote this paper under the guidance of Mr. X and Mr. Y. I was able to easily adjust to the multicultural environment and highly enjoyed the time spent here.

As for my educational background, I recently completed a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Warwick. During my time at Warwick I undertook modules like –Advanced Econometrics, Game Theory, Behavioral Economics etc., which helped me develop excellent quantitative and qualitative skills. I know how to use statistical packages like- STATA and EVIEWS and am also a novice coder in Python.

Currently, I am working for Prof. A, in the Economics department of the University H, and assisting him in his research.

Further details regarding my key competencies are given in the CV I attach herewith. I would welcome the opportunity to explain more about the skills and experience that I can bring to this position. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future regarding my application.

Yours faithfully, G.
