Sample cover letter for Full Time position at grant thornton

POSITION:

consultant

My name is ________, I am thrilled to be applying for the Strategy and Performance Improvement Associate position within Grant Thornton’s Business Consulting team. I find my experience studying Management Information Systems at Penn State, as well as interning with Gloucester Public Schools’ IT department make me a perfect candidate for this position, and for shaping a vibrant economy with Grant Thornton.

My passion for IT began with the successful delivery of my project during my internship with Gloucester Public Schools. I was asked to develop a software solution for teachers to track and analyze students’ exam scores, which proved a challenge in the midst of scattered data and previously failed systems. I began by assessing the district’s use of Performance Plus, and discovered the software was not worth the annual $7,500 being spent on it. After proposing relying solely on the new information system, SchoolBrains, I began assisting with the implementation. I acquired data across multiple sources, researched other school districts’ software methods, and developed templates on GoogleSheets used for tri-annual input into the district’s QlikSense database. I further combined my GoogleSheets solution with mail-merge software, and created individualized data cards for teachers to easily assess students’ performance in department meetings.

I am very impressed with Grant Thornton’s strategy to become the go-to-firm for growth by 2020. I find my skills will translate well to Grant Thornton because I quickly adapt to my work environments, and view ambiguity as an opportunity to learn. In my internship I learned there is not one correct answer to many business problems, just as long as the decided solution solves the customer’s needs. I limit myself only by what time will permit, and relentlessly search for the best solutions for the customer in all my endeavors. The commitment to quality I have displayed in my work aligns with Grant Thornton’s commitment to building trust and integrity in markets, and a trend I would proudly continue with Grant Thornton.

I am an enthusiastic hard worker, and am eager to continue my career following graduation in December 2016. After consulting with current employee _________ I believe I am an excellent fit for Grant Thornton’s culture and philosophy. I hope my qualifications prove deserving of this position, and if so, I would appreciate the opportunity for an interview. Feel free to contact me anytime at _________________ I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
James Santo
