POSITION:

marketing graduate program

It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for Marketing Summer Internship in L’Oréal. I am confident to make positive contributions to the current marketing team drawing on my last two marketing internship experiences as well as my creativity and organizing skills obtained from various extra-curricular activities that I have engaged in, and the most importantly, my passion in a career that combines both marketing and beauty.

As a current second year Management Studies undergraduate in London School of Economics (LSE), I have been updating the current trend of business. In addition, my practices in Maths and Physics enable me to solve problems logically and analytically. Biology builds up a foundation for understanding the technologies in cosmetics. Since I was little, I have travelled to several countries to gain an international vision of the markets and cultures variation; at the age of ten I went to study in Singapore, where I learnt to self-discipline, and handle problems myself.

To gain an insight into the functioning of a cosmetic business environment, I arranged myself a short-termed placement in the marketing Department of one of the biggest SPA and Beauty organizations in Taiwan. I was in charge of designing promotional leaflets, whereby I enhanced my marketing sensitivity and computer skills by starting with a survey about women's preferences in spa treatments, hence I’ve learnt that a product is only and will only be a good product when it meets customers’ needs. Meanwhile, I was involved in various marketing projects, during which the team gathered ideas for monthly sales strategy and new product packaging. These were my most enjoyable time throughout, as not only were they the best opportunity for brainstorming, but I was also amazed by how every individual’s creativity added up to final delivery of well-being and beauty to our customers.

While my official title at P.I.C.K was Human Resource Intern, in reality I was cross-working in Research department at the same time. This was an extraordinary experience to me; I obtained the ability to multi-task and take initiative in a range of situations. In addition, I’ve mastered to budget my time and assets, most importantly, I’ve learned to be flexible and to get things done. I sincerely enjoyed this experience as I thrive in challenging, fast paced environments where I get to learn the most. Although I was working in HR department, I truly believe this had engaged me in another perspective of marketing. During my internship, I was responsible for weekly employee training, as well as external recruitment. Thus I realized that instead of marketing products, HR is implicitly marketing the company brand to both current and potential employees; and this is extremely significant since an organization’s basis is workforce.

Turning the focus to my extra-curricular activities, involving in Roedean Charity Team had certainly developed my leadership: fostering collaboration and maintaining communication within a team. I had spent every Friday at St. Dunstan's for two consecutive years. By looking after the elderly, I learnt to be a good listener. A ballerina for five years, I appreciate the significance of perseverance. Being a committee member of Pole fitness society was the most challenging, I have to tackle problems independently, taking into considerations of both students’ benefits and what Student Unions can offer. However, I am the most thrilled to organize events for society members when I can be as creative as the budget limits me. I have constantly engaged myself in a variety of experiences in trying to make good use of every opportunity available to develop the skills which are essential outside academy.

Last but certainly not least, I want you to know that I’m a passionate L’Oréal (beauty) fan. L’Oréal is undoubtedlty the top beauty brand, its innovation in beauty products is recognisable. I am most impressed by how L’Oréal masters incredibly well from lauching products in mass distribution channels, to professinal salons and luxury boutiques, aiming at customers in all range. For 19 years, I’ve been impressed as your customer and now I would like to impress L’Oréal’s customers in the same way your team has so successfully done to me.

I will be anticipating gaining knowledge and further challenges offered by the Marketing Summer Internship, which I can in return, contribute myself fully to L’Oréal. I would love the opportunity to meet up and discuss the value that I can bring to the team. Finally, I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
