When it comes to buying groceries, consumers have to balance two competing desires. One, to purchase healthy food that is good for the body. Two, to purchase comfort foods that make for a joyful eating experience, even if the overall health benefits are lacking. Over time, many solutions have popped up that use effective substitutes to make traditionally "unhealthy" foods more healthy. A couple examples are adding shredded carrots or zucchini to muffins and sweet breads, or substituting applesauce instead of oil or butter for cake recipes.

We are interested in more innovative solutions for incorporating fruits & veggies into foods that normally don't contain these ingredients. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Deliverables
  1. 1) Propose a food item that can be sold at grocery stores that incorporates added fruits or veggies compared to the original offering.

    • What is the food item?
    • What fruits or veggies are you adding?
    • What ingredients (if any) are you substituting by adding the fruits or veggies?
  2. How do you imagine consumers eating your product? For example, do you see it as a snack, breakfast food, etc?
