The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented disruption to many of our lives, behaviors, and preferences.  One category that exemplifies this ongoing shift in consumer demand is food.  A year from now, what kind of impact do you predict the pandemic will have when it comes to consumer behavior towards food?  What will be some of the long-term changes we may see?

As a food company, it's important that we understand and react to the evolving changes in consumer preferences.  How should food companies like us prepare to address the likely long-term changes in consumer behavior brought on by Covid-19?

Deliverables

Please answer the following:

  1. Given the Covid-19 pandemic, what do you predict will be the likely LONG-TERM changes to consumer behavior, in terms of preferences, habits, and values, when it comes to food?  Please list and briefly explain up the three changes.  Focus on the ones you feel will be most relevant to consumers and food companies.
  2. How should food companies react to and/or prepare for the LONG-TERM changes brought on by the pandemic?  Please provide creative feedback and ideas that will address the changes in consumer behavior that you described in deliverable 1.

*Please note: We are interested in predictions of consumer trends that will be happening at least a year from now, most likely after the worst parts of the pandemic. Your response to the deliverables should not be a summary of current trends and/or obvious, broad conclusions.  We are looking for creative insights and solutions.
