You just landed a great new job at an awesome company with a good culture fit for you. The hiring process was smooth and you’re ready to really get going in your new role. Now is the time to be onboarded and begin your transition from candidate to employee.

You’ll be training, getting your email set up, meeting your coworkers, better understanding your role, figuring out which break room has the best coffee and more, but what is the ideal way to get all these things done? Is there a new employee portal to teach you the ropes of internal data systems or a buddy system to show you around the office? We want to know what you think the best possible processes for being onboarded to a new company are.

Deliverables

Propose best practices for onboarding new employees:

1. When considering the technical aspects of the onboarding experience (electing benefits, direct deposit, setting up email, etc.), what cool new ways or approaches would you suggest an employer pursue as a standard practice or process?

2. Why will these practices and ideas appeal to new employees and help their retention (staying at the job) and productivity?

3. As an employer, what are the best ways to assist in the transition from candidate to employee from a cultural perspective? For example, meeting coworkers, understanding corporate structure, etc.

4. Why will these practices and ideas appeal to new employees and help their retention and productivity?

Bonus: Present your submission as a presentation (Powerpoint, Slideshare, Prezi, or similar) or with a video (include Dropbox or YouTube link in submission box).

How will we judge your ideas?

- Scope: The more complete the better. Tell us the story of what happens, why and who is involved.

- Realism: We’d love to do an off-site event (escape the room game anyone?!) every time we make a new hire, unfortunately that’s just not feasible.

- Comprehensiveness: An idea that includes details like a mock up of a new employee login system and also how that system fits into a larger program is awesome.

Things to consider:

- Creative ideas only! We want really original, unique and outside the box ideas for this challenge don’t be afraid to suggest something crazy!

- Show us! Using images and creating mock ups is an awesome choice for this challenge, submissions with visual aids are often much stronger than plain text
