Giant Eagle Supermarkets are your one-stop shop for groceries, pharmacy, bakery, dry cleaners, and more! In fact, we run a third party gift card business where we sell gift cards for over 250 other retailers (ex: gift cards to Home Depot, Old Navy, Amazon, etc.) in Giant Eagle stores and online here. We already offer lots of deals to encourage gift card purchases (ex: buy $50 iTunes gift card and get $5 back, or 10 cents off a gallon of gas for every $50 spent in gift cards), but we are looking for other innovative ways to grow this part of our business.
Deliverables
We are interested in growing the volume of gift cards that we sell within Giant Eagle stores or digitally. Specifically, please answer the following:
- What is your idea for increasing gift card purchases in-stores or online? Describe how it would work.
- Why would your idea be effective in growing the volume of gift card sales?
Considerations: Please AVOID the following ideas as we are already exploring these options.
- Gift card wallet where customers can digitally store all the cards they buy.
- Auto-reload feature where customers give us their credit card info and we reload certain gift cards every time they drop below a chosen amount.
*Feasibility Criteria: Top ideas will be creative but also practical and financially reasonable. Please do not submit ideas simply suggesting that we offer discounts on the gift cards prices.
