Did you know? In 2012 alone, more than 36 million tons of food waste was generated in the U.S., and only five percent of that was diverted from landfills and incinerators for composting. Food waste makes up the largest percentage of waste going into landfills, at 21%. [EPA Food Waste Fact Sheet]

BASF is helping universities across the country meet their goal to send zero waste to landfills.

Deliverables

Please answer:

1) How would you reduce the amount of food waste on campus or in your community?

2) How could BASF help your university implement your idea?

Consider solutions that can be found in new technologies, partnerships, or education. Submit your solution as a 5 page powerpoint or PDF, with visuals and annotations to describe your thinking

Additional prize opportunities:

The first and second place winners will receive an interview opportunity for a BASF Professional Development Program (PDP); created to give highly motivated, mobile-minded recent college graduates an opportunity to hone their professional skills.
