In 2013, the Netflix original series "Orange is the New Black" quickly became one of the most popular and critically-adored television series in recent memory. But before the show was winning awards, it was a book called "Orange is the New Black: MY Time in a Women’s Prison," a 2010 memoir by Piper Kerman that told the story of her time as an inmate in a women’s prison.
